About Us
Little Tyvy Montessori is a place where curiosity is nurtured, independence is practised daily, and every child is met exactly where they are.
Our Story
Tyvy Montessori was founded with a simple vision: to create a beautiful, purposeful environment where children can grow into confident, capable, and independent individuals.
Our journey began in 2013, when our founder, Tharushi Chandrasiri, discovered her passion for working with young children and began her AMI Montessori training in Sri Lanka. Montessori soon became more than an educational approach—it became a way of seeing and understanding the child.
In 2023, her journey took her to Canada, where she worked as a Montessori Classroom Guide at Hillcrest Montessori Academy and later became an Early Years Program Director. Her international experience in Montessori education, leadership, program development, and working with children, educators, and families shaped the vision for Tyvy Montessori.
Returning to Sri Lanka in 2026, she began turning this long-held dream into reality, with Tyvy Montessori preparing to welcome children in 2027.
Our environment is thoughtfully prepared to support independence, concentration, curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning, with meaningful experiences across Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies.
We believe in respecting the child, preparing the environment, and guiding with care—allowing each child to discover and develop their own potential.

What Guides Us
At Tyvy Montessori, our philosophy guides every aspect of the environment—from the materials we carefully select to the way we observe, guide, and communicate with each child.
To be a trusted Montessori community where children grow as curious, capable, confident, and compassionate individuals, prepared not only for school, but for life.
To nurture happy, curious, and confident learners.
To provide an authentic Montessori education in a thoughtfully prepared environment, guided by AMI-trained educators who respect each child’s individual development.
We nurture independence, concentration, confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning through purposeful, hands-on experiences.
Our Founder
From my beginnings in Montessori to years of teaching and leadership in Sri Lanka and Canada, every experience has shaped the Guide I am today and the vision behind Little Tyvy.
A Note From Our Founder
My journey in education began in 2013, when I discovered my passion for working with and teaching young children. This led me to begin my AMI Montessori training in Sri Lanka, and throughout that journey, Montessori became much more than an educational approach to me—it became a way of seeing children, learning, and life.
Montessori taught me to see each child as a capable, curious, and unique individual, with their own pace, interests, and potential. It also taught me the importance of respect, independence, purposeful work, observation, and a thoughtfully prepared environment.
From 2013 to 2023, I built my Montessori career in Sri Lanka, working closely with young children and gaining valuable experience in Montessori classrooms. These years shaped my understanding of the child and strengthened my belief that education should nurture not only academic development, but also independence, confidence, concentration, and a genuine love of learning.
Working with children during these years allowed me to experience the Montessori philosophy in everyday practice—to observe children carefully, understand their individual needs, prepare meaningful environments, present Montessori materials, and give children the time and freedom to discover what they are capable of.
Throughout my years in Sri Lanka, I carried a long-term dream of gaining international experience and one day bringing that knowledge and perspective back home.
In 2023, I took an important step towards that vision and moved to Canada, where I joined Hillcrest Montessori Academy as a Montessori Classroom Guide.
Working in Canada gave me the opportunity to deepen my Montessori practice within an international environment. I worked closely with children and families while developing my experience in observing children’s development, preparing Montessori environments, presenting materials, supporting individual learning, and creating a respectful and purposeful classroom community.
As my experience and responsibilities grew, I progressed into the role of Early Years Program Director at Hillcrest Montessori Academy.
In this leadership role, I gained valuable experience in early years program development, curriculum planning, Montessori environment preparation, staff support and mentoring, family communication, and maintaining high standards of care and education.
My years in Canada broadened my perspective and strengthened my professional practice. They allowed me to see Montessori from a wider international perspective while also helping me understand the importance of creating an environment where children, families, and Montessori Guides can grow together.
In 2026, I returned to Sri Lanka, bringing with me more than a decade of Montessori experience, including both my professional foundation in Sri Lanka and my international experience in Canada.
Returning home gave me the opportunity to begin turning a dream I had carried for many years into reality.
As I prepare to open Tyvy Montessori in 2027, I hope to bring together the knowledge, experience, and values I have gained throughout my journey and create something meaningful for children and families in Sri Lanka.
For me, Montessori is much more than a method of teaching. It is a way of seeing the child—with respect, trust, patience, and a deep belief in their potential.
My vision for Tyvy Montessori is to create a beautiful, purposeful, and thoughtfully prepared environment where children can move, explore, choose, practise, repeat, discover, and gradually become independent.
I want children to develop independence, concentration, confidence, curiosity, communication, and a genuine love of learning—not because they are being pushed to achieve, but because they are given the time, environment, and guidance to discover their own capabilities.
Most of all, I want every child who walks through our doors to feel respected, loved, welcomed, and valued for who they are.
And I want every family who joins Tyvy Montessori to feel that they are not simply choosing a school, but becoming part of a warm, respectful, and connected Montessori community.
Tyvy Montessori is a dream that began many years ago, grew through my experiences in Sri Lanka and Canada, and has now brought me back home.
I am deeply grateful for every child, family, Montessori Guide, mentor, and experience that has been part of this journey—and I look forward to beginning this next chapter with the Tyvy Montessori community.
With
love,
Tharushi Chandrasiri
